FLAT HEADS

So according to our 2007 calendar, Spring is here. And if that’s the case, I think it’s about time I got rid of my Uggs- not Ugg boots (I don’t own a pair of those). I mean my Ugg flats that I bought last winter. At the moment of purchase my intentions were to get the most comfortable pair of flats I came across. When I saw the fleece-lined moccasins in SoHo I knew they were exactly what I was looking for. And since that day in December, I can’t seem to step out of them. I wear them three days of the week; my co-workers must think I have no other pair of shoes! Snow, rain (and not sleet- I’d wear my galoshes then) I wore my brown UGG Australia Thelma Moccasins. WHO WORE IT BEST?

No, you’re not seeing double! Over the past few days I’ve had friends telling me they saw drama queen New York from the VH1 series “I Love New York” wearing a dress I rocked in November 2006. Then while reading the New York Post today, I see a cd review of former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee wearing the same dress on her cd cover! I can’t help but be proud of the fact that I am almost positive I was the first to wear the dress. Now I don’t know where the others bought it, but I am proud to say, I purchased mine at the H&M on Fifth Avenue! Who would’ve thought a trend was started for less than $60. And by coincidence, I sported the same gown but with a more casual touch this week at Shecky’s. I switched the stilletos for boots, the bare legs for jeans and the blown out hair for a more natural, wavy look.

Sunday was the start of Japanese Restaurant Week
(March 4- March 10th). This entire week, participating Japanese restaurants will open their doors to anyone who wants to try Japanese food in make New Yorkers aware of the great service and versatility in Japanese restaurants.

If you are like me, the thought of raw fish makes you a bit squeamish. However, fear not, there are lots of fully-cooked dishes to choose from. You can enjoy the many different rolls each Japanese restaurant offers. One of my favorites is the Spider roll consisting of fried soft-shell crab, lettuce, avocado and cucumber (ingredients my vary).

Feel free to try the gyoza for a starter-dish, fried or pan-seared dumplings often served with a vinegar dressing. Can’t decide on what to get? Then try a Bento Box. The Bento Box offers a little bit of everything. You get an order of california roll; a main dish which usually consists of chicken (beef or salmon teriyaki), steamed dumplings, vegetable/shrimp tempura, small garden salad with ginger dressing, and a small cup of rice. Believe me, you will be left satisfied and very full. Read the rest of this entry »
