Hanging With the Soap Stars!

Perhaps like you, I have many cousins and friends who love novelas! There’s something addicting about those Latin American soap operas that have you glued to the small screen night after night once you’ve started.

Thanks to Telemundo, I was able speak with the stars of today’s most popular novelas including Eugenio Siller and Litzy who are the faces of the upcoming Una Maid en Manhattan. Sound familiar? The new Telemundo series is an adaptation of the Jennifer Lopez film Maid in Manhattan. It will be co-produced by Sony Pictures!

Here I am with the novela stars!

My college roommate and I watched Jorge Luis Pila (pictured above)  in Secreto de Amor during our freshmen year– about 10 years ago!

The highlight of the day was Jencarlos Canela‘s live performance! The crowd went absolutely wild once he hit the stage and with good reason. Not only is he talented, but the novela star turned singer is one nice looking man. Thanks to my blogger VIP pass from Telemundo, I was front and center with the Miami-born Cuban who sung in both Spanish and English.

And ‘Club de Noveleras’ it was! The audience knew everything about the stars including the lyrics to Jencarlos’ songs.

And the day wouldn’t be complete without some cool gift bags, prizes and a beauty station. Take a look at some of the fun booths made available to all the fans and noveleras:

You know the beauty station had the longest line ever! Who wouldn’t want to get a complimentary touch up by a L’Oreal makeup artist. The experts under the tents were glamming up the fans with makeovers and hair styling.

Here I am chatting with Diana who gave me a chic smokey eye! Take a look:

Diana applied L’Oreal True Match Concealer and The One Sweep Sculpting Blush Duo. To create the smokey eye, she used Extra Intense Black Liner and L’Oreal Studio Secrets Lavender Smoke Eye Shadow.

I want to know: Do you watch novelas (or soap operas)? Which one is your all time favorite? (Tell me below)

I must confess, the last time I watched a telenovela I was maybe 14 years old! I always had bad luck with my schedule– and the finale would always end up being on a night when I had another event! As a teenager, I remember watching 2: “Camila” and “Carita de Angel.”  ;)

I know what you mean! I saw one with my mom after graduating from college. I forgot the name, but it was with Kate Castillo. And the one before that was Secreto de Amor with Jorge Luis Pila who I met at the Club de Noveleras.

Ive watched so many soap operas as a kid. All thinks to my grandmother who ALWAYS seems to be watching one. I think my favorites have always been the Brazilians, they seem to be more “edgy”, if using such a word is possible when describing a soap opera. LA PROXIMA VICTIMA was definitely one I liked, more of a thriller than a romance.

Telenovelas are NOT soap operas. Telenovelas typically last 1/2 year – 1 yr & have a definite ending. They are like reading a long novel turned into an extended screen play which has enough time to do the whole novel.
