Mercedes’ Sunday Night Beauty Routine

5 products I use before bed

By Mercedes Sanchez

Preparation for the work week for me begins with a relaxing Sunday evening. Here are some of the products I used before bed last night.

1. Oil-Free Makeup Remover by Mary Kay

I remove my eyeliner and mascara before heading in the shower. Even though it’s oil-free, I’m extra careful not to get any of it on my face.

2. Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo, Conditioner and Anti-Frizz Serum.

This new line by Dove is weightless and it doesn’t have a strong fragrance. After combing my hair, I added a dime-sized amount of the anti-frizz serum and wrapped my hair in a bun. On Monday morning, I wore my hair down in its natural waves.

3. Simple Skincare Vital Vitamin Night Cream

I put this over my prescribed azelaic acid gel (which helps fight breakouts). The night cream is full of vitamins B5 and E which help soften, smooth and moisturize.

4. Eucerin Daily Replenishing Lotion

I apply it immediately after the shower and it feels great after shaving my legs. It’s fragrance free and lasts all night and day.

5. Estée Lauder Teal Topaz Nail Polish (Limited Edition)

I’ve had this polish in my bin for a while now, and I finally tried it out. Although it’s part of their Spring 2012, this shade goes well in February.

Clinique Almost Lipstick

9 01 2012

By Mercedes Sanchez

For women like me who prefer lipstick but like the simplicity of a gloss, Clinique’s Almost Lipstick is ideal. I love that it’s not gooey or shiny yet it goes on smoothly.

Bonus: It’s ultralight and paraben-free.

I tried three shades of their honey lipstick this morning. Take a look below.

Have dry skin?

By Mercedes Sanchez

clinique moisture surge intense skin fortifying hydratorClinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator cream gel hit shelves this January– just in time to prevent your skin from drying this winter. Clinical tests show that in three days, the skin’s moisture is dramatically strengthened and improved.

I tried this product and recommend it especially if your skin falls under the dry to very dry category. It could be applied in the morning or at night.

I’m more of a lipstick girl, but if you’re looking for a long lasting lip gloss for the holidays I recommend Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bare Sparkle 15.

I tried the lip gloss during the day (see photo here) and I liked that it was moisturizing and non-sticky. It’s enriched with Vitamin C and E– and I have to admit that I love the shimmer!
