Prom Style Tips for the Teen in Your Life
If you were to look at photos of prom dresses from five or 10 years ago, you’d see long, formal gowns and perhaps some princess styles. Today, young ladies have more fun (and inexpensive) options to choose from.
I shared some of my picks for the 2013 Prom Season at my latest fashion segment over at Univision. (Watch segment below!)
The Short Prom Dress
If you’re looking for a short prom dress, I recommend this B Darlin Juniors Dress in mint. We’ve seen this color on the red carpet on celebrities like Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, and Heidi Klum. And take a look at those rhinestones! You won’t need to add many accessories as the beading is enough. Doesn’t she look like a Tinkerbell? So pretty. Available at Macy’s for $139.
Strapless and Shimmery Prom Dress
This Nicole Miller gown is worth a look if you’re going for a more traditional look. Strapless dresses never go out of style, and it’s just the right frock if you’re looking for shimmer without wearing sequins. Available at RenttheRunway.com for only $110. It goes for $630 in department stores– so renting might be ideal.
The Hi-Low Prom Dress
The hi-low dress is a trend we’re going to see lots of this prom season. This dress has a few other trends going on at the same time, but it’s acceptable — only because it’s prom. This Speechless dress has ombre, black and white and the hi-low. Definitely a fun party dress! Available at Macy’s for $129.
The Sequin Prom Dress
This Badgely Mischka dress has head-to-toe sequins. I added a statement necklace from Rent the Runway for additional bling and an extra touch of elegance. The messy-side bun is also an effortlessly chic hair style recommended not just for prom– but for all parties. Dress available at RentTheRunway.com for $160.
