#BeChicTuesday Goes International, Boho and Midtown Chic this week

22 06 2011

By Mercedes Sanchez

This week…

Our#BeChicTuesday photo series went international thanks to Shelika Baez who submitted her picture from Madrid! Baez left her hometown of Orlando for a year of adventure and teaching in Spain.

Being chic in Madrid means to always dress your best, choose functional over flashy but always look polished,” says Baez. “If all else fails, accessorize with a scarf for the ultimate Euro vibe.”

Pictured on the far left, Shelika is wearing a Chambray tunic from H&M, navy leggings from Pimkie in Madrid and a yellow scarf from El Rastro street market and rainboots from Nordstrom.

Back in the states, Amy Chandra gives us a timeless look. “My favorite look is a wrap dress with nude heels – sooo Midtown Chic and a classic look that will carry you though every season.”

Don’t you just love our readers? We sure do!

Many thanks to Sandra, Karen, Shelika and Amy for sharing their looks. Take a look at their photos here or below.  Hope you too can share you look by submitting your picture on our #BeChicTuesday page here.

Thanks Carrie! I know what you mean about carrying a scarf everywhere. I do too- even in the summer! Isn’t Shelika’s look so practical chic?

Love the pictures and the scarf advice! When in doubt a beautiful scarf can make someone look ultra chic & add flair to the outfit.

I work two blocks near the beach and it’s always cool in the mornings.  Scarves and light jackets are always a must for me.  When the noon sun breaks through the marine layer, both those items come off!

Lovin’ @Shelika! Reminds me of my junior year abroad & subsequent trips to Spain. So spot on: chic but functional, nothing that a scarf won’t perfectly glamorize!

Yay helpful tips on how to look great. Scarf check. I find a headband can sometimes make all the difference in the world to my look.

I too love scarves! My mom just got back from Peru and brought me back a ton of them which are made of cotton and silk. Their nice an light which are perfect for spring, summer and fall! I always get compliments on them because they’re so unique!

No matter what trendsetting or fashion forward clothing you purchase if it will not compliment your body-then you’d better put it back on the store rack!
