Whether you’re a first generation Latina or your grandparents’ great-grandparents were born in the states, I have a feeling you’ll be celebrating the 4th of July this weekend along with your fellow Americans.

If you’re hitting the beach, having a BBQ, watching the fireworks from the comfort of your home or hopping on a plane for some fun in the sun (as I am) here’s a list of my affordable 4th of July Must-Haves:

    The family and I will be heading to Washington D.C. and celebrate 4th of July in our nation’s capital. It’ll be my second time going but the first for my parents, brother, and husband. As well as my baby’s first road trip =) We’re looking forward to going and my today in the morning my mother told me “Estoy emocionada para ver la Casa Blanca” =)

    4th of July is a big one in our neighborhood.  We have a block party. All the grills are pulled to the front of the homes for cooking. We have a theme (luau, carnival). The kids have a bike decorating contest with a parade, there is a salsa tasting contest, a bake-off.  There is always some sort of face-painting, tie-dying, jumper or major water fight for the kids. Our police department and local fire station come by for some food.  It is a real community gathering.  The most important thing to wear are a comfortable pair of flip flops!

    I’ll be staying at a Disney Resort and the 4th of July I’ll be @Magic Kingdom! Yes, I know I must arrive early because they close the park when is full, but I’ll be there to have the feeling and tell my readers how it is the celebration this year!

    Headed to do a little Karaoke and bday celebration on Saturday, pool party Sunday and BBQ with friends on Monday!  But NOOOO fireworks, they’ve been banned down here in SA, TX.  I’ll be wearing maxi dresses pretty much all weekend.  I’ll change it up a bit with lots of bangles, necklaces and belts.  Wedge heels for going out and jeweled flat sandals to be more casual.  I <3 the holidays!!!  :)

    This holiday weekend is a celebration of my Mother’s birthday, which is tomorrow. As I have shared online, my Mom has battled the past few years with kidney failure, diabetes and dialysis. Like a true Latina who always wants to look their best always, she never looks sick, even when she is seriously ill.  With my brother & his family moving to FL after two decades in the MidWest, its going to be a special birthday/4th of July for all of us.

    Not sure what I am gonna wear, but most likely going away for the weekend for a shopping spree with my man. then having a BBQ with the family! nothing exciting but always fun!

    I am going for drinks with my cousin on Friday and to a BBQ on Saturday with my sister. Sunday and Monday are still up in the air. I may just stay home as my neighborhood gets kind of rowdy with the fireworks. It may be a great time for me time!

    I’m having a bar-b-que here at my house with my cousins. Making tons of food and drinking cold drinks! I’ll be wearing shorts a cotton shirt and flip flops! :)

    Shoes and belts can catch the eye of other people so make sure that you invest in a good pair of shoes and a nice belt and make sure that they are regularly kept clean and shiny – there’s nothing worse than a pair of muddy boots combined with a smart dress!
