Before you head out to your local department store to get a new outfit for your family holiday card, keep in mind that you can find a cozy sweater without having to splurge.
Whether you’re taking a holiday card picture with your pet, family, or friends, or significant other, getting the perfect picture is about using the right sweater, colors and backdrop.
This year I’m considering sending Christmas cards to friends who recently moved to warmer states to start a new life as their families grow.
So to remind my friends of their hometown, I made the Lower East Side my backdrop. I found this colorful and animated mural and thought that my new violet sweater from the Gap Factory would be a perfect fit.
I’m all for shopping my own closet before I even think about spending more money on clothes. You can probably get a top from your own closet, but if you’re looking to get a new piece I suggest the Gap Factory. This cowlneck drop-shoulder sweater is only $24.99.

Or, now that my friends don’t get to enjoy the different seasons, I can show them the changing colors of the Fall leaves in the Big Apple.
I paired my new sweater with faux leather pants and boots that I bought more than two years ago. I’m all for mixing high end and inexpensive pieces, and as you just learned, old and new as well. It’s not about how much you spend, but how chic you can make your outfit look with what you have.
