Shopping for Cookware
This weekend the husband and I decided to host Sunday dinner with both of our families. We have a small space but always try to make the best of it.
I don't cook often. He actually cooked the lasagna pictured here, and I just made the salad.
It all started when I was shopping in Marshalls picking up a few things for a lifestyle television segment. I usually stick to the women's handbag and garment section. They have so many different dresses and shoes and purses.
But this time I decided to walk towards the home decor section as I was looking for some Mother's Day gift ideas too. And then eventually I came across the houseware aisle - a place I almost never visit.
As I took what I thought would be a quick peek, I was surprised to see all the different cooking tools Marshalls offers. And that's when I was inspired to host a Sunday dinner with my family and my husband's parents.
We bought the organic meat for the lasagna in the supermarket and asked the butcher to grind it. My husband then cooked the beef in the pot pictured above. (I forgot to take a picture while he cooked).

And there goes the salad I made! I put a bowl on both ends of the table. The salad is pretty easy to make. Washing each leaf took a while. Instead of using a salad dressing, I added lemon juice (from the actual lemon).
I didn't use this particular cast iron grill for the Sunday dinner, but I want to show you another pan I bought at Marshalls. I cooked chicken cutlets on it a week ago.
For breakfast the day before, I used this potato masher to make a mangu.

After dinner I made a sangria which we enjoyed al fresco on the rooftop. I haven't made a sangria in years but I'm so happy I still got it. It was delish!
The tall juice jar is also from Marshalls and the crystal pitcher was a wedding gift.
My sangria recipe: red wine, and a splash from each of the following: brandy or rum, orange juice, lemon soda or Sprite. Apples and Oranges.
I'm happy with my new cooking ware from Marshalls. If you would like a gift card from Marshalls to buy something you don't usually shop for, let me know and I'll host a giveaway!
