Get the Look: Golden Globes Beauty
I was relieved to see so many stars take risks on the red carpet at the 2015 Golden Globes. Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, Lupita Nyong'o, Gina Rodriguez, and Emma Stone were among my favorites. Here's how to get their looks:
Katie rocked this extra long, sleek ponytail at the Golden Globes.
Celebrity hairstylist DJ Quintero of Alterna Haircare applied a small amount of the Alterna Haircare Cavaiar Seasilk Oil Gel and the Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Omega + Nourishing Oil and then used a large round brush to blow-dry her hair into the bone-straight style. Holmes' hair was then placed into a neat side pony.
We're so proud of Gina Rodriguez' big win at the Golden Globes. Her look was also a winner in our book!
Makeup Artist Jenna Anton was inspired to bring out the essence of Gina’s personality, as she describes as, “fun, flirty and comfortable in her own skin.” Gina’s skin naturally glows, so she created a warm matte sunset look for the eyes.
Jenna always starts off with the eyes and ends with skin. She lined the lash line with L’Oréal Paris The Super Slim by Infallible Eyeliner ($8.95) starting with a thin line from the inner corner of the eye and then gradually thickening it with a small wing at the end.
To keep Gina’s look on all night, Jenna sprayed L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray ($16.99).
Emma was the best dressed on my list. I loved her jumpsuit! "It's supercool to see a girl in pants," says Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin. "I thought we could go a little bit more feminine and coquettish with the makeup."
To accentuate Stone's eyes, Goodwin started by drawing a shimmery black eyeliner pencil over the lids in an exaggerated cat-eye shape. She then patted a navy shadow (Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Riviera) on top of the liner and highlighted the inner corners and lower lash lines with shimmery silver shadow. "I wanted that cat-eye effect, but I wanted it to have a softness to it," she says. Goodwin then applied individual lashes and several coats of volumizing mascara.
Goodwin dusted a pink powder blush on the apples of Stone's cheeks for a pretty flush, then dabbed Vaseline on her cheekbones to lend a nonshimmery dewy glow. Then came the lips: a pretty fuchsia shade (Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in HD Iris) applied over lip balm.
