How to Find The Right Foundation
I remember the first time I went to the drugstore to buy foundation. I was attending a gala for journalists at The Plaza hotel one year after graduating from college. I thought I found the perfect shade but when I developed the pictures, I realized the foundation was too light and I looked extremely pale. Thankfully I've gotten better at it throughout the years, but now there's a Shade Finder quiz to help make it even easier.
Neutrogena's Shade Finder quiz allows you to find your perfect shade. You then have the option of purchasing the foundation directly from the website or personally at the drugstore.
It was super easy. Here's how I did it. (Short video towards the end)
When I took the quiz I wasn't sure whether to choose from "acne-prone" or "sensitive" since my skin is sometimes both. I went with acne-prone and then the quiz asked me which benefits are most important to me, such as a foundation that lasts all day, prevents breakouts, or eliminates shine, and a few others. I chose "prevents breakouts."
But my favorite feature is the part that allows you to virtually try on the foundation they recommend. Mine was the "Fresh Beige." I then uploaded a picture of myself (makeup free) to see if it's really a good fit. And it was!
Because of my past experience with accidental lighter makeup, I actually asked Neutrogena to send an additional foundation that's one shade darker just in case! So I tried out both the Fresh Beige and the Medium Beige - but the Shade Finder was right all along. The Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Fresh Beige was the right choice for me.
The liquid makeup foundation comes in 14 different shades! I love it when brands consider all our gorgeous complexions. Actress Kerry Washington is Neutrogena's spokesperson, and she also spoke about finding the right shade for her skin tone.
Because my skin is a little sensitive, I appreciate that the Healthy Liquid Makeup is supposed to smooth out the complexion and keep skin healthy with its vitamin- and antioxidant-packed formula.
Nice job, Neutrogena! The Shade Finder was a great idea. #strongfoundation
What about you? Will you be taking the quiz?
