How to prepare your skin for Spring
Tips on preparing your hair and skin for the new season By Mercedes Sanchez
Though we love winter fashion, we're excited that spring is finally here! But dressing up for warmer weather means lots of preparation before showing off those gorgeous legs of yours. Here are some vital tips on making sure your skin, hair and body look their best this season.
Cleansing and removing makeup
During the colder temperatures we worried about dry skin, and today it's about preventing oily and sweaty pores. Make sure you have the right cleanser for your skin type and that you always remove your makeup before bed. We can't stress this enough. If you're too lazy to wash your face before bed, get a towelette and gently pass it through your face. Though the packaging usually says no rinsing is necessary, we recommend that you do rinse afterwards.
Moisture is key
Though removing dirt and makeup is important, moisturizing is key for hydrating your skin even during warmer months. To prevent breakouts, go for a light moisturizer that's non-comedogenic. Avoid applying additional products by finding a moisturizer that includes sun protection.
Did the crisp air of the winter leave your hair dry and damaged? Start to repair your hair with nourishing shampoos and conditioners that are known for their moisture. Prevent your hair from falling flat and go for products that won't weigh your hair down.
Depending on your location, you might be exposed to lots of humidity this season. Keep your locks in place and with an anti-frizz serum or spray.
Who doesn't want their skin to be extra smooth during the spring and summer months? Exfoliation consists of removing dead skin cells before moisturizing. Look for a creamy or salty exfoliator at your drug store and use it once or twice a week. And of course, don't forget to moisturize daily.
When it comes to shaving, try to think ahead to avoid irritation. For example, if you know you're going to wear a skirt to a cocktail party, shave the night before. Use creams or razors that come with aloe. Also, try exfoliating before shaving-- not after.
