A day on the Bowery
I was happy to trade my heavy coat for my light shearling this weekend. I enjoyed the sunny weather with a walk on the Bowery and came across a surprising sign above the John Varvatos store that reads "Rock is Dead?" I had originally only wanted to take a photo by the Joey Ramone mural on Bleecker. It's been up for a while and I'm glad I caught it before it's removed (or tagged again).

"Rock is Dead" billboard above John Varvatos, formerly CBGB
As far as the "Rock is Dead" billboard behind me, Bowery Boogie says it's a PR stunt by the John Varvatos store at 315 Bowery, formerly the home of CBGB.
"It’s hype for a week of events, one source alleges. Everyone is hush-hush, including the SoHo Varvatos, which claims to know nothing about the placement," says Bowery Boogie. "We do know that there were apparently some beer deliveries yesterday. 'There’s definitely a party happening,' our tipster notes."
