Comfort Chic: Who says you can't wear sneakers with skirts?
Converse and Midi Skirt
I almost never plan my outfits the night before an event or work. I'm sure I'll save lots of time in the morning if I did, but I don't. Easter Sunday was no different. An hour and a half before before mass, I started to browse through my closet in search of Easter-appropriate attire.
I came across this blush, quilted skirt that I bought in H&M more than a year ago and a chambray shirt I bought at the Manhattan Mall like 10 years ago!
Once that was settled, I wasn't sure what to wear on my feet. For one thing, I knew I didn't want to wear heels. It's been a long week and I prefer to wear stilettos on TV or at a function- not to church.
When I pulled out the chucks my husband thought I had lost my mind. "You can't wear sneakers to church." Oh yea? Why not.
"Why don't you wear shoes instead?"
You see, my church is a small gem in the East Village. It's a special place where most people don't feel the need to dress up in designer dresses to attend mass. "It's a place like no other," said a parishioner during the Town Hall meeting. "It's one of the few churches in the city where people don't judge you on what you wear, how you look, how much money you make, or social status," she said. And she's right.
And that's why I felt 100% comfortable wearing the chucks not only with a midi skirt, but to church as well.
