Custo Barcelona Fall 2012

An homage to visionaries By Mercedes Sanchez

custo barcelonaSpanish designer Custo Dalmau, of Custo Barcelona, went for a daring mix of patterns and colors in his fall 2012 show during Fashion Week in New York.

"This is a very experimental collection,"  said the Spanish designer. We mixed lots of fabrics together with the latest fiber technology. You're going to see a palette of beige, copper, orange, gray and soft green with touches of red and fuschia.

On the runway, there were lots of metallic, fringe, wool, fur, print and lace-- sometimes all at once! It's a combination that only Custo Barcelona can pull off.

Dalmau gave his female models an Indian nomad inspired look with natural makeup and a head full of messy fishtail braids.

When it comes to dressing the everyday woman, Custo says women should have the following three items: dresses, a good pair of jeans and jackets.

"More importantly, everybody should feel good with what they wear," said Dalmau. "Fashion is an extension of your personality."
