Juan Carlos Obando Spring 2013
Juan Carlos Obando By Mercedes Sanchez
Colombian born designer Juan Carlos Obando left a career in advertising to pursue fashion, and we're glad he did! Presenting at Fashion Week, the designer showed us his latest collection of elegant, evening gowns. See some images below.
He says he was inspired by his interest in graphic design. Instead of models he used mannequins with awkward and gothic-looking heads such as mice, roosters, and deer.
And though it's a Spring 2013 show, we find that his pieces are appropriate for the pre-fall weather we are now experiencing in New York. His collection consists of classic, knee-length dresses, sleek pants for women and gorgeous textures in nylon and silk.
After New York Fashion Week, Obando says he's returning to California and spending a few days in Palm Springs.
