Recap of our most recent road trip
Finally! Here's the post from our December road trip. Sorry it took me a while to publish Ari's post. - Mercedes
The family was on the road once again; this time for Christmas. Adios, Big Apple! We headed down to Maryland for Noche Buena (Christmas Eve). Road trips during the holidays have received a bad wrap lately - crowded rows and sometimes inclement weather. However, in the right sled or car and charged up and with some strong coffee, you can turn a four-hour drive into some sweet family time.
We hopped into the 2017 Prius Four Touring. For any adventure on the road, comfort and safety is key. The car seat fit like a glove, and when that happens you know you won. The Prius also felt very cozy and handled the winter roads well.
Once on, the centered dashboard presents itself immediately as your copilot. The Prius Four is great with managing the EV/ECO power modes and adjusting to a hybrid synergy system. We only needed to fill the the tank once to and from. The crip sound system was great in getting the family into the Christmas spirit with some holiday tunes.
After the four hour journey, we arrived still in style. Didn't feel painful crawling out of the car to hug and greet family and friends.
Noche Buena started with lunch at BUCA di Beppo Italian Restaurant. Met up with family and friends over some pasta and good laughs. After church we were off to the table again enjoying great company over food, wine, and even an impromptu zumba lesson before dancing through the night. Someone was even caught trying to open gifts before midnight.
On Christmas morning, it was a quick dash to the tree for Part I of gift opening. Noah did well as he waited patiently for his cousin to finish unwrapping his gifts. One of the gifts was the game of Twister and as you would expect, we were all out on the floor. My knee thankfully held out through all the victories. (NO pics due to the compromising positions).
After yet another amazing meal, we gathered around for some Netflix and enjoyed sharing memories while making new ones.Guess what we did the following day? We ATE! The Brunch Spread even had a waffle maker.
To make the room even more festive, we had some wonderful arrangements from Tierra Floral Designs - a family business that's been a staple of the Maryland/DC area for a over a decade. It's never fun to say goodbye, but heading back home is never a bad thing. We said our farewells and hopped back into “Mr. Prius” as it was rightfully nicknamed. Full, content and grateful for time well spent with family and friends and seeing the younger generation enjoy another Christmas. The ride back home was full of a different tune, it was time to get into New YEAR mode, and plan our next road trips.
