Best Dressed at the Oscars

Oscars Red Carpet 2014 By Mercedes Sanchez

Did you watch last night's Oscars? I was to go live on Univision with my fashion recap but the segment was canceled because of the snow. Here are the looks I was going to discuss this morning.

Trends we noticed: Strapless gowns, beaded nude dresses, and loose wavy hair-- although none of those nude dresses made my best dressed list.

 Lupita Nyong'o in Prada

Lupita wore a pale blue Prada dress- perfect color choice. Not everyone was thrilled about the headband (hence comments on Twitter and Facebook), but overall, Lupita may have been the best dressed of the night.

Congrats to the new star on her first Oscar nomination and win for Supporting Actress in 12 Years a Slave.

Camila Alves in Gabriela  Cadena

Not many people can pull off pink from head to toe like Camila Alves. The Brazilian model wore a blush gown by Ecuadorian designer Gabriela Cadena.

The look is literally monochromatic- from the cluch, manicure and makeup!

The long sleeves and cape give it a sophisticated touch. Well done, Camila.

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

Sandra Bullock was absolutely stunning in this navy blue gown by Alexander McQueen. It hugged her well and the knotted detail was a plus.

Her hair on the side is super chic. (We have loved Sandra since Speed- remember that movie?!)

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Jennifer Lawrence chose Dior again for the Oscars. This time it was a red, peplum gown with minimal accessories including a backwards necklace.

She's always so graceful- even after falling. Last year she fell on stage on her way to accept her Oscar, and last night she tripped on the red carpet but recovered by laughing as always.

Kate Hudson in Versace

This white gown was absolutely gorgeous! It was well fitted, had a dash of rhinestones, with an exquisite train that wasn't too long or too short.

Her hair was Old Hollywood glamour and the bold shoulders were everything! Where can I get a similar gown for less?
