Vacation Mode: Casa de Campo
Travel Review By Mercedes Sanchez
Where did you go this summer? We were happy to visit the Dominican Republic for a week where we vacationed at Casa de Campo.
I've been to the resort with friends and family where we stayed at a gorgeous villa, but this was my first time staying on the hotel side for the entire trip.
There's a reason I keep coming back.
Casa de Campo is a luxury resort with 7,000 acres. It has some of the best golf courses in the world and more than 15 restaurants.
It also has an exclusive and private beach, Minitas Beach, by the Caribbean Sea where guests can enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing and so much more. Guests can order food and tropical cocktails while sun bathing.
While I LOVED the private pool at the villa last year, the pool by the hotel was great too. We visited the first weekend of August and it wasn't crowded. The hotel has two large pools with a bar and there's plenty of room for everyone.
They have quite a few excursions such as horseback riding, shooting center, and a roster of watersports.
Casa de Campo Living
There are 50 multi-bedroom homes, or villas, at Casa de Campo. And the hotel has 185 guest rooms.

There's also a movie theater, shops, and a full supermarket which is perfect for guests staying at the villa or the hotel.
I also stopped by Altos de Chavon which is built on a plateau high above the Chavon River and modeled after a 16-century Mediterranean village. When you visit Altos de Chavon, make sure to wear comfortable shoes as there are cobblestones. It's surrounded by art galleries, shops and boutiques and restaurants.
Since its inauguration by Frank Sinatra in 1982, a Grecian-style amphitheatre offers world-class performances by the likes of Andrea Bocceli and Julio Iglesias to Sting, Carlos Santana and Charles Andrvourz.
