Media Tour Recap: Driving in Style with KIA
Be Chic Tour: Florida Edition By Mercedes Sanchez
Now that my summer projects are completed and I have a moment before things get busy again with fashion week and the holidays, I'd love to share some highlights from our Be Chic Tour. In mid-July, we launched our Florida road trip with the all-new 2015 Kia K900.
(In the upcoming weeks, I'll post my reviews on the hotels we stayed in).
Kicking off the Be Chic Tour with the Kia K900
First, let me start by saying that it took me about two months to coordinate the first part of our tour. I walked around with a black binder and checked things off as they were getting confirmed. I was thrilled when Kia partnered with us for the Florida edition of our Be Chic Tour.
We picked up the car upon arriving at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport.
"Is that a Jaguar?"
Without exaggeration, at almost every valet we pulled up to, someone said, "Wow, what car is that? I thought it was a Jaguar when you were pulling up."
It looks like a luxury car because it is. The K900 is styled to challenge the rear-drive luxury sedans with an extensive list of standard equipment, world-class accommodations, premium driving dynamics and stunning design that will redefine consumer perception and expectations of the Kia brand.
I had no idea what a v8 engine was until one of the guys we came across told us. Apparently, only luxury cars have a v8 engine.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is substantial and features controls for audio, cruise control, entertainment, and vehicle information. A heated wheel is available on the V6 and standard on the V8.
We relied heavily on the car's navigation system as we drove from city to city in the Sunshine State.
Miami to Orlando to Tampa, and back to Miami
During the Be Chic Tour, I had local and national segments throughout Florida. We started in Telemundo Miami for a live beauty segment, and the next day headed to NBC 6 for another beauty segment.
K900 is spacious and comfortable
"Standard high-grade leather is found throughout the cabin on the V6, which can also be optioned with soft Nappa leather in black or white with contrasting piping," says Kia.
"A 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, including power lumbar support, is standard on both the V6 Premium and V8 Luxury models, and a 16-way power adjusted driver’s seat features power headrests and cushion extender for added thigh support. The front seats feature standard multi-stage heating and ventilation for individualized comfort in all climates."

We didn't have any backseat passengers, but if we did, they would have been just as comfortable.
Accessing a panel within the center armrest, rear-seat passengers also have the ability to control the vehicle’s ventilation system and may even fold the back cushion of the front passenger seat forward with the touch of a button.

The plan was to complete the tour in Tampa and then spend our last two days at Universal Studios and Disney World, but while in Orlando we got a call from Despierta America and had to (thankfully) head back to Miami.
But before heading back to Miami, we still had two more segments in Tampa. So on our last day in Orlando, we stopped by the Mall at Millenia to shop for the Despierta America models. I was asked to recreate telenovela looks for less. You can watch my Despierta America segment here.

All of the segments in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa went well! I am so grateful to the models and producers who helped make everything a success.
I was sad to leave Florida, but I'll be back again sometime.
We dropped off the car at the airport before our flight to New York. Gosh, how I miss the K900!
Many thanks to the folks at Kia who made the Be Chic Tour possible.
