Drake's Thank Me Later | Better Than the Mixtape?

Looking for that album to bump in the car while the wind blows through your hair this summer? Well, if you haven't heard the buzz about Drake's s new album dropping June 15th, then you must be living under a rock. The Canadian rapper has received a lot of hype over his new album, but will it live up to expectations? The first single off the album, Over, has reached huge success. Drake has everyone singing along with him and loving it. But, truth be told, Drake really is "Doing Him"

After being signed to Lil Wayne's Young Money, his success has reached proportions no one could have ever imagined. In 2009, his track Best I Ever Had reached number two on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. His mixtape So Far Gone claimed the number six spot on U.S. Billboard 200 chart and earned a 2010 Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year.

Drake's Away From Home Tour kicked off April 6th of this year making stops at Illinois, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and at my own campus of Syracuse University. There is no doubt that his fans truly adore him, as I witnessed at his concert in Syracuse featuring K-OS and Francis & The Lights. The screaming fans at the sight of Drake just walking onto the stage truly proves that "Drakemania" has taken a toll on the music industry and is only going to get crazier when his album drops. The record features hit makers like T.I., Swizz Beatz, The Dream, Jay-Z and fellow Young Money members Nikki Minaj and Lil Wanye himself.Â

Unfortunately for Drake, his album has just been recently leaked online. But he already has some definite fan favorites. Find Your Love's catchy chorus and cinematic music video has become one of my personal favorites. As well as Fireworks featuring Alicia Keys, Unforgettable featuring Young Jeezy, and Light Up with the legendary Jay-Z.

As a fan of Drake myself, I am excited to hear the other tracks on his album. Hopefully the title of his album rings true and we can really have something to thank him for. -Samantha Saunion
