Be a tourist in your own city
While running errands in my hometown borough of Manhattan, I accidentally came across the new Second Avenue train station by 72nd Street. The brand new subway route finally opened after nearly 100 years.
E Pluribus Unum. "Out of many, one." How fitting is this USA motto in the new station?! As a native New Yorker, I think I've seen it all but there was something inspiring about riding on a new train.
This same week I also visited the Oculus Mall in the World Trade Center. It's exciting to see the architecture and the new shops, but there's still a slight somber tone. I wonder if it's only New Yorkers who feel that way, or if tourists do too.
I walked there from Barnes and Noble in Tribeca where I bought my blogger-friend Bren Herrera's new and first book, "Modern Pressure Cooking."
